Huntington- "Reality Days" for Teens
For Teens from age 13 + (Lunch is provided with registration) sponsored by Huntington Bank
This event Introduces teens to every day financial decisions, through career exploration, financial education, and the hands-on experience of making monthly budgeting decisions during a game of life Huntington Reality Days is an exciting program that partners real-life student experience with the FDIC’s Youth Money Smart program, teaching financial empowerment through saving, smart spending, and budgeting. The event starts with an interactive lesson on smart money decisions, followed by each student being assigned a life scenario, complete with a job, family status and credit score. Students then visit booths and, using a simulated checking account, pay for necessities, including housing, childcare, taxes, education, transportation, utilities, groceries, and other expenses. The program concludes with a discussion around the importance of career decisions and the power that students have now to plan for a financially fit life. This program includes:
- The FDIC’s Money Smart for Teens/Young Adults standards aligned curriculum focused on teaching students the basics of handling their money and finances.
- Game of life simulation, providing a glimpse into the process of budgeting and monthly spending.
- Interactive discussion with financial professionals about the importance of career choices and what students can do now to prepare for the life they want to live.
- Learn financial basics
PITCH PLUS - Elevator Speech Competition
For youth ages 8 years & Up - Sponsored by 3-N-1 Trinity Services
The :"Pitch P;us" Elevator Pitch Competition provides young entrepreneurs with an exciting opportunity to present their innovative business ideas in a clear, persuasive, and concise manner. Participants have a limited amount of time (2 Minutes) to capture the audience’s attention, demonstrate the value of their venture, and showcase their creativity, confidence, and communication skills. This competition encourages innovation, builds entrepreneurial confidence, and offers valuable networking opportunities with mentors, investors, and industry professionals. The top 3 participants will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.
